A progressive lens changes power gradually from distance vision at the top through intermediate vision to near vision lower in the lens. Unlike a lined bifocal, it does not have a visible segment separating the zones.
The frame must leave enough usable vertical space for the selected progressive design. Frame fit also affects where the fitting height is measured. A frame that slides, sits unevenly, or is unusually shallow can make reliable placement more difficult.
Progressive orders normally need a distance prescription, add power, PD, and fitting measurements. Strong prescriptions, prism, large differences between the eyes, unusual frame geometry, or prior adaptation difficulty deserve manual review before production.
New wearers may need time to learn where the distance, computer, and reading areas sit. Persistent blur, imbalance, or discomfort should be discussed with the seller and an eye-care professional rather than assumed to be normal adaptation.
